University Challenge

Earlier today I went along to Edge Hill University for the annual ‘Varsity’ sporting competition against the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

There was lots of sport planned but I didn’t have much time so decided to concentrate on two games that were already underway – the women’s hockey and women’s rugby.  Because the pitches were next to each other, I could move between the two games to maximise my picture taking opportunities.

I don’t profess to be a sports photographer but I do like to practice various genres of photography. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to keep up with the action and am mostly happy with the pictures but it might have been easier shooting portraits!

Well done to the UCLan hockey team who won their game 3-0 and the Edge Hill rugby team who won their game. I wish I could have stopped longer to take in more of the action.

First up the hockey pictures with a couple of alternative black and white versions and then a few rugby pictures. Double click on an image to enlarge.

And here are the rugby images…
