A different venue for a mid season friendly. I was taking more photos for Preston North End Ladies Football Club as they took on Nelson Ladies Football Club. Nelson Ladies play in a lower league than Preston and it was the home side’s strength that showed in a first half they dominated as Nelson struggled against a strong wind.
In the end Preston won the game comfortably in the difficult conditions at Ashton Community College. It wasn’t so much about the result today and it is hoped they will take some learning and confidence from the game forward to their next league game against Carlisle.

It was a bitterly cold afternoon for football today and it was a game that PNE Ladies will want to forget. Within minutes of the start Preston were behind after some poor defending from the home side.
Carlisle were pressing Preston every time they has possession and the home team couldn’t get their passing game going. Carlisle were quicker to the ball in all areas of the pitch but at half time it was still only 1-0.
Unfortunately, the second half didn’t’t start well for Preston and Carlisle soon extended their lead. In truth, Preston never really looked like getting back into the game and the Carlisle keeper had a very quiet afternoon. It was an assured performance from the visitors and they deserved the victory. It finished Preston nil, Carlisle four.

It’s always a wonderful day when we see our grandchildren so seeing them both on the same day was especially nice. Even though it’s only a few weeks since we last saw them, they have developed so much in a short space of time.
I always try and take a few informal photos each time we visit or when they visit us. Here are a few from last weekend…
UCLan Rams are the only American Football Team in Preston and today at they took on Manchester Tyrants at the UCLan Arena. There was good number of spectators who turned out to watch the game. The game ended with an impressive victory for UCLan who won the match 14-3.
