In Pictures: Fylde Ladies -v- Middlesborough

A cold, breezy day in Lancashire as Fylde Ladies took on Middlesborough in the Northern Premier Division of the National League.  There was lots of endeavour from the home side  but Fylde’s usual fluidity was missing and at the final whistle it was Middlesborough who deservedly took the three points.

In Pictures: Fylde Ladies v Sunderland Ladies

A good game of football and a hard-fought win today for Fylde Ladies as they took on Sunderland Ladies at home.  It was a game that Fylde just about deserved to win on the balance of play.

Fylde led at the half-time break by one goal to nil but Sunderland started strongly in the second half and it wasn’t too long before they got an equaliser.

It took Fylde a few minutes to regain their composure but they did settle and got a second goal after a bit of a scramble in the box. There was some late pressure from Sunderland but in the end Fylde got the win they deserved.

First game of year ends in defeat for PNE Ladies

The first game of the year for PNE Ladies ended in defeat as they lost three nil against a strong Cammell Laird side. Preston started brightly and had the best of the early play but Laird gradually started to get their game together, pushing PNE back as the half went on.

At half time Preston trailed by one goal and there wasn’t much in it.  The second half continued as the first had finished though with Cammell Laird the stronger team. They sealed victory with two more goals and it was a deserved win for the visitors. A disappointing day for PNE Ladies. PNE battled right till the end and I’m sure they won’t have to wait too long for a first victory of 2019.
